Sotogrande Beaches, Bars & Beach clubs

PLAYA GUADALQUITON Named after a small river nearby, Playa Guadalquiton is a 5km stretch of secluded beach, located in front of a private estate between Sotogrande and Alcaidesa. This untouched isolated spot has been labelled one of the quietest in Andalucía. Foot access to this beach can be found from Playa Torrecarbonera to the west and Playa Sotogrande to the east. If you like to kick back and enjoy the Mediterranean sun and sea in privacy, then this is the spot for you.

PLAYA SOTOGRANDE Previously named Borondo, this 2km beach is one of the most unique in the area. Located in front of the Sotogrande estate, this expanse of naturalness is particularly special because of its 360 panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Guadiaro river estuary, a natural protected area with an abundance of wildlife.  Foot access to this beach can be found through the urbanisation and on the path from the road.

PLAYA PASEO DEL MAR If you want a beach with a great atmosphere and great facilities, Playa Paseo del Mar is the place to be. This 1km stretch can be found between the mouth of the Sotogrande Marina and the Guadiaro River. With 2 chiringuitos (beach bars), including Gigi’s beach, this beach is the perfect summer hotspot. The beach fronts the Paseo del Mar section of the urbanizations and the Octogono beach club (daily memberships available). Parking can be difficult here during the summer, especially in the early afternoons.  In summer  water taxi operates between 11:30 to 15:00 and 16:00 to 19:00 Mondays to Saturdays.

In Spanish the word Chiringuito translates to open air restaurant which is exactly what these beach bars are! These summer beach bars and restaurants typically open between May and September then they are packed away until next summer although, some remain open most of the year. These chiringuitos often specialize in fresh fish, usually the catch of the day cooked on an open-air BBQ made from an old fishing boat. With famous Spanish sardines always on the menu.
