Shortly after, she had the opportunity to take on summer cover positions at the Sotogrande community office — an experience she looks back on with great fondness. Working in that close-knit environment, where teamwork and camaraderie were at the heart of everything, left a lasting impression and helped shape her collaborative approach to work.

Over the years, María José has built a career of impressive breadth and adaptability. She has worked in the sales department of a plumbing company, in the logistics sector managing transport staff for hazardous goods — a role that demanded precision, organisation, and confident decision-making — and as an accountant within a hospitality company, where she further developed her administrative and financial expertise. Each role added a new dimension to her professional profile, giving her a well-rounded perspective that continues to serve her clients and colleagues to this day.

Throughout most of these roles, English has been an essential part of her professional life. Having begun learning the language at the age of nine, she communicates with ease and confidence across cultures — something that has been invaluable in a region as internationally diverse as Sotogrande.

After a career break for maternity, María José returned to the workforce with renewed energy and focus. She took on a role in nautical equipment sales before covering a position at a local real estate agency — an experience that first sparked her interest in the property sector. She went on to work for a company providing concierge and luxury property maintenance services, where she refined her organisational skills and deepened her understanding of high-end client service in sophisticated, demanding environments.

In 2015, she began a new and defining chapter by joining BM Properties — now BM Sotogrande. In the years since, she has become an integral part of the team, bringing together the full breadth of her experience to support the smooth running of the business with the same warmth, precision, and commitment she has carried throughout her career.
