At BM Sotogrande, we’re used to closing deals, not film scenes — but every now and then, life hands you an unexpected adventure. Recently, our team swapped property portfolios for movie scripts and became bona fide film extras in Magdalena’s Land, a new romantic comedy being filmed right here in Gaucín.
This wasn’t your average Tuesday.
The day started at sunrise (yes, that early). Dressed in our best wedding attire — hats, heels, and all — the team headed into the mountains, winding our way up to the heart of Gaucín’s old castle, where the film’s pivotal wedding scene was being shot. Let’s just say: stilettos and steep castle climbs don’t always mix, but the views (and the surreal experience) made it all worthwhile.
Once on set, we were warmly welcomed by the director, Uldis Cipsts, and the cast and crew. The scene? A beautifully absurd, emotionally rich wedding — and we were the guests. Over the course of the morning, we stood in the Andalusian sun as the actors repeated their lines, the cameras shifted angles, and the same heartfelt speech was delivered at least twenty different ways. It was fascinating, fun, and a whole new kind of patience test — but as the director said, it’s not just about acting, it’s about atmosphere. And we like to think we brought a little elegance (and a lot of enthusiasm) to the scene.
More than just a cameo, the day became a team bonding experience we’ll never forget. Between takes, we laughed, swapped stories, and even learned a thing or two about the magic (and madness) of filmmaking. It was a chance to step out of our day-to-day roles and just enjoy something totally different — together.
And, in true BM style, we didn’t let our morning in the spotlight derail the rest of the day. By early afternoon, we were back in the village (Pueblo Nuevo), enjoying a well-earned sushi lunch at Moncayo, before returning to the BM Office and powering through a full afternoon of work — just with slightly more dramatic stories to tell.
Magdalena’s Land may be a love letter to Gaucín, but for us, it’s also a reminder that inspiration, teamwork, and a little bit of adventure can show up in the most unexpected places.
Who knows? Next stop, Hollywood. But for now — back to real estate.
